Neil Fachie

Paralympic gold medal winner Neil Fachie is a multiple sports athlete from Scotland competing in events for the visually impaired. After competing in Beijing in 2008 as a sprinter, Neil made the transition to cycling and has represented Great Britain at three world championships, winning four gold medals and breaking two world records.

At London 2012 he and his tandem pilot Barney Storey won the men’s 1km Time Trial for riders with a visual impairment, setting a world record and clocking the fastest time ever ridden on a tandem bike – paralympic or non-disabled. The velodrome victory was Scotland’s first gold of the games.

Neil was awarded an MBE in the 2013 New Year’s Honours list.

Neil was a guest speaker at our Cocktails and Conversation ladies’ lunch in Edinburgh.

It was great to be back up in Scotland for such a worthwhile cause. Cocktails and Conversation was a great event, I enjoyed meeting so many interesting people."
