Q: How old do I need to be to take part?

If you wish to take part and are under 18 years old, you will need to be accompanied by an adult.

Q: How fit do I need to be?

Reasonable fitness, able to ride 50 miles in the week up to the event without too much difficulty.

Q: Do I need to have cycled 100 miles/100km before?

No, we encourage riders of all abilities and for many the Surrey 100 will be the first time they have taken part in a 100 mile ride.

Q: Do I need to be a member of a club?

No. Anyone can take part.

Q: Do I need insurance?

Action Medical Research has Public Liability insurance. However, you may wish to ensure your bike and possessions are insured since your belongings are your own responsibility.

Q: Can family and friends come along to support me?

We encourage Family and Friends to come along to the finish to welcome riders home. You can find us from 1pm at the Surrey Police HQ, Mount Browne,Guildford.

Q: Will food be available?

All riders will be able to benefit from 3 refreshment stops and a lunch stop. You may wish to bring your own sustenance if you like gels and other specific foods.

Q: Do I need to tell you if I have special dietary requirements or if I am vegan/vegetarian?

We can accommodate vegetarians/vegans but please advise if you have any food allergies.

Q: Do I need to wear a cycle helmet?

Our Insurers insist we adopt Best Practice and as such we require all participants to wear a recognised cycling helmet.

Yes, it is signposted and marshalled.

Q: Are the roads closed?

No, the roads are not closed but we have selected mostly quiet B roads for your ride.

Yes, we encourage teams to take part, but each rider will need to register individually.

Q: What kind of bike should I use?

Road bike is advisable, but any bike can be ridden on the Surrey 100.

Q: What if my bike breaks down?

You will be given an emergency number to call and we will be able to find you with our motorcycle outriders who are trained bike mechanics.

Q: Are spare parts available?

Yes, for most common bikes, not high spec bikes. Spares are chargeable.

Marshals, Motorcycle Outriders, Sweep Vehicle, First Aid and an event organiser.

There are three checkpoints and a lunch stop.

The entire route is on the road.

Q: How do I contact the organiser if I have a problem on the route?

You will be given a mobile number on the day for the event organiser. All Riders are encouraged to carry a mobile phone. If not, you can communicate to the organiser through any of the Ride Support (marshals etc)

You must contact the Event Organiser and they will direct you back on route.

Q: How long do I have to complete the ride?

We close the ride at 8pm. This gives you up to 12 hours to complete a 100 mile course.

You can opt to stop at any time. Advise organiser and arrangements can be made.

The Highway Code and respect other road users and riders on our event.

No, this is not a British Cycling Ride.

Q: If I haven’t pre registered can I still turn up and enter on the day? And if so, how much will you charge?

You can register on the day, the fee is £50, which includes the miniumum £25 sponsorship donation.

Q: What happens if I can’t attend but I’ve paid to enter?

If you advise us that you cannot attend and wish to receive a refund we can arrange this.

Q: How much money do I need to raise in sponsorship?

You will need to raise at least £25.

Q: When do I have to pay my sponsorship money?

Ideally you can bring your sponsorship money with you on the day, or fundraise using our on-line sponsorship account. We ask that all monies are sent to us no later than 8 weeks following the event.

There is a car park at the start and this is free.

Guildford is the nearest station and is approximately 6 minutes, by car, from the start point at the Surrey Police HQ, Mount Browne, Guildford.

No, we recommend you either lock you valuables in your car, or carry them with you.

There are toilets at the start which can be used for changing.

Registration opens from 7.00am and closes at 9am.
