The Start
Tonbridge Castle
The start of the ride will be from Tonbridge Castle. All riders are required to check in prior to setting off to confirm participation.
Check-in be will open from 7:30am. Once riders are checked in they will be despatched in groups at regular intervals. Riders who intend to cycle at a more leisurely pace should start as early as possible.
On The Road
Time for lunch
The route will be marked with yellow "castle" logo direction signs. There will be regular refreshment points offering a variety of drinks and snacks free of charge.
At check in you will be issued with a lunch ticket for use at the lunch stop which will be positioned between Leeds and Sissinghurst. There will be a variety of drinks and snacks available to purchase at the start and finish.
If you are unable to complete the ride for any reason, you must inform a marshal or contact control and accept a lift to the finish.
The Castles
Some of the castles have very kindly granted permission for riders to enter the grounds. There will be an opportunity to take photographs and in some cases make use of their tea shop facilities. Please take care in the grounds as there will be other visitors.
Safety, Accidents & Breakdowns
Mechanics will be on hand
All riders are required to wear an approved cycling helmet and ensure that their bikes are in good condition before the ride.
Out on the road there will be St John Ambulance, Raynet and motorcycle escorts in attendance. There will also be marshals along the route, please comply with any instructions given to you. In the event of your bike breaking down, mechanics will be on hand to assist, but any parts must be paid for.
The Finish
Ride through history
The Ride ends at Tonbridge Castle where you will be required to check in. Then you can celebrate! You will receive a medal and certificate in recognition of your achievement. Refreshments will be available at the finish.
Sponsorship
Leeds Castle
There is a £25 minimum sponsorship required to take part in the ride, and it is a great opportunity to raise money for Action Medical Research.
Why not use our online sponsorship system. You get your own web page, the address of which can easily be emailed to friends, family and work colleagues.
Registration fee
Your registration fee is intended to cover the cost of running the event and any sponsorship money that you raise goes directly to benefit the Charity.
Please tell your friends, family, work mates and neighbours about the event you are to undertake and to support you in this cause.
If everybody was able to raise just £25 this would help fund vital research projects. Please make every effort to raise any amount that you can, once you have your first sponsor you will find much easier to get your next one.
Preparation For The Ride
You will need to do some training for this ride! Seriously, training is all important, the more miles you ride in training, the more comfortable and enjoyable the ride will be. Increase your training gradually and follow a balanced diet to prepare for the ride. There will be training tips on the website and you will also receive a training programme and diet sheet with your ride pack when you enter. Wear comfortable clothing, maintain your bike and ride within your capabilities.
Insurance
Please ensure that you have adequate personal insurance to take part in the ride and have your bike and personal effects insured for loss or damage. You must understand that you take part in this event at your own risk.
You absolve Action Medical Research from responsibility for any injury incurred or loss sustained to property through participation in this event, unless caused by the negligence of Action Medical Research.
