Cycle Lands End to John O'Groats for Action Medical Research

Cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats is a classic challenge that many dream of. Starting at the southwesterly tip of England, we pedal our way through Cornwall, over Dartmoor and north along the Welsh border into Scotland, via lochs and mountains to the North coast.

In all we cover 1000 miles in 12 days. Discovering Britain at cycling pace is an enriching experience, and the sense of achievement upon crossing the finish line is second to none.

cycle Lands End to John O'Groats for Action Medical ResearchIndividual adventures are another way of taking on a challenge event whilst raising money for Action Medical Research. Why it's so important to help raise funds for Action Medical Research

We are a national medical research charity dedicated to preventing and treating disease and disability by funding vital medical research into a range of conditions. As an organisation we have:

  • made a major contribution to the British polio vaccine
  • were responsible for much of the testing of the rubella (German measles) vaccine
  • pioneered hip replacement surgery (the Charnley hip)
  • introduced the medical application of ultrasound
  • discovered the importance of folic acid in the prevention of spina bifida
  • contributed to the development of monitoring systems routinely used on the brain following traumatic injury
