Images of the 2008 ride will be available here very soon.

The Challenge

The Suffolk Sunrise 100 is probably one of the most beautiful and scenic routes we have designed and it well worth making the effort to join us for a day in the saddle on these fully supported circular routes.

Riders enjoying the Suffolk Sunrise bike rideThe ride is aimed at all cyclists who want to take on the challenge of riding 100 miles in one day. If that sounds a little daunting, or if this is your first attempt at a distance challenge then we have included a 50-mile route just for you. Whichever you choose you can be secure in the knowledge that our dedicated support team will be on hand to help complete the distance.

The beautiful Suffolk countrysideStarting in Woodbridge our Sunrise route is truly stunning, winding gently through some of our finest, unspoilt countryside. We have even designed a neat little 5-minute ferry crossing taking you across the river Deben at Bawdsey, probably one of the most enjoyable rest stops that you'll encounter on any ride! This route is very rider friendly and cleverly avoids most major roads in this idyllic corner of England

We hope the sheer beauty of this route that takes you past lonely shingle beaches and dramatic crumbling cliffs will help to lift your spirits if the going gets tough.

We will look after you en route, repair your bikes, if they need it, and keep you well fed and watered along the way. Whatever your ability it will be a truly memorable day, so if you have got what it takes come and join the challenge now!

Why it's so important to help raise funds for Action Medical Research

We are a national medical research charity dedicated to preventing and treating disease and disability by funding vital medical research into conditions affecting both children and adults.

As an organisation we have;

  • Made a major contribution to the British polio vaccine.
  • Were responsible for much of the testing of the rubella (German measles) vaccine.
  • Pioneered hip replacement surgery (the Charnley hip).
  • Introduced the medical application of ultrasound.
  • Discovered the importance of folic acid in the prevention of spina bifida.
  • Contributed to the development of monitoring systems routinely used on the brain (following traumatic injury).

With such a breadth of research taking place, Action Medical Research has a relevance to every person living in the UK.
