Suffolk Sunrise Bike Ride

Sunday 11 May 2008

Following the successful first year of the Suffolk Sunrise 100 Bike Ride, we are very pleased to be able to invite you to join us for year two of this beautiful ride.

The picturesque and ancient market town of Woodbridge in Suffolk provides the starting and finishing point for the ride.

The route follows mainly quiet roads allowing you the cyclist to take in the breathtaking scenery and observe wildlife en route.

The beautiful Suffolk countrysideAt the sixteen mile point we have two ferry boats waiting just for you to take you and your bike across the River Deben to Bawdsey. A five minute boatride and then you’re on your way again!

'Our perception was that it was better signed than any ride we’ve done in the past.'
'The intermission for the ferry at the Deben is novel, maybe unique and comes at a good point in the ride.'

'Although I’m local I thought the route was superb and showed off many so aspects of Suffolk.'

'The birdsong along the way lifted my spirits; I heard three separate nightingales singing along the coastal heath land and lots of other warblers such as white throat, willow warbler, chiffchaff and black cap.'Riders enjoying the Suffolk Sunrise bike ride

'When I arrived at Trimley the sun was actually rising over the sea to produce a silver ripple on the sea just for me! Or so it seemed! Using mainly lanes from the Suffolk Cycle ways was excellent. No cyclist likes using busy roads.'

We have five food and drinks stops en route. Four on the100 mile route and two on the 50 mile route. All refreshments are free to riders. Refreshments will be available to purchase at Woodbridge when you return. Toilets, showers and changing rooms are also available at Woodbridge.

It costs just £15 pounds to enter and that fee includes all refreshments at the drink stops, a medal and certificate at the end and an exhilaration that will numb the pain when you have completed the distance!

By taking part in the Suffolk Sunrise 100 you will be supporting our Touching Tiny Lives Campaign. The charity’s aim is to end the misery of premature birth forever. Action Medical Research relies entirely on voluntary donations. Join us and help to touch a tiny life today.
