9th March – 20th March 2008
Join Tony Hadley, former singer of Spandau Ballet and star of the West End hit Chicago, Martin Fry (ABC) and Richard Drummie (Go West) when they return for their third trek for Action Medical Research. Join the stars on an adventure of a lifetime and experience the incredible diversity of Costa Rica.
In taking part on this amazing trek you will be following in the footsteps of the daring Spanish Conquistadors who trekked across the dense rainforest of Costa Rica laden with Mexican Gold. The amazing scenery, beautiful indigenous wildlife and challenging environment that faced the conquistadors will push Richard, Martin, Tony and their fellow trekkers to the limit as they make their way from the Pacific Coast to the Caribbean over 14 incredible days.
This coast-to-coast challenge will involve travelling from the Pacific coast to the Caribbean coast on foot and raft!! Our route will take us through coffee plantations and oak forests, deep into cloud forest and dense tropical rainforest. You will be serenaded by howler monkeys and exotic bird calls. We also have the opportunity to work with one of the local communities before finishing on a beautiful tropical beach.
This is a challenging trip through a remote and rarely visited region, which will make it even more excit
ing and rewarding. The terrain is tough with some hard climbs so training is essential so that you can ensure that you enjoy every minute of the experience.
So if you think you have what it takes to accompany your favourite pop stars on the adventure of a lifetime then Costa Rica beckons you to explore it in 2008.
