Frequently asked questions

How fit do I have to be?

Everyone will need to have trained hard and established a good level of fitness.  This trek is at very high altitude (over 5,000m), so it is imperative that participants train before coming on the expedition. Some trekking training tips can be found on the Event Organisers website, Global Adventure Challenges www.globaladv.org. We will be sending you training tips and regular newsletters to keep you informed and motivated whilst you are training. Don't worry; you won't be left behind as we have a great Team of Sherpa’s and guides.

Will I have to carry my own kit?

No, porters will be carrying all our gear en route and our meals will be cooked for us. All you have to do is concentrate on enjoying the magnificent views of the Himalaya’s and the awesome experience. You will be required to carry a day-pack whilst trekking and this will contain items such as water, waterproofs, sun hat, camera etc.

Do I need specialist kit?

No, you will need to bring good quality walking boots and a sleeping bag liner. Expedition style Down Jackets and down sleeping bags will be provided for you. Walking poles are a very good idea. A packing checklist will be sent to you once you register your interest.

What does the registration fee cover?

The entire £395 non-refundable registration fee goes to Global Adventure Challenges and is used to place deposits with the appropriate airlines and ground crew. It is also used to fund all administration involved in organising the trek with resources, staffing, paperwork and information packs.  It is also your personal contribution towards the actual event cost.

Where will we stay?

Accommodation en route will be very basic, as we will be staying on local tea-houses whilst we trek – these are basic lodges ran by the locals and staying here has a positive effect on the lifestyle as we are helping their economy. At the beginning and end of the trip we will be staying in a reasonable hotel in Kathmandu.
