How fit do I have to be?
Everyone will need to have trained hard and established a good level of fitness. We will be sending you training tips and regular newsletters to keep you informed and motivated whilst you are training. Don't worry; you won't be left behind...
Is altitude a problem?
We will spend the first two days acclimatizing in Cuzco. By taking short walks and getting used to the different conditions we will limit the effects of altitude and be ready for the trek. If you have any medical conditions you should consult your GP.
Will I have to carry my own kit?
No, local porters will be carrying all our gear en route, pitch our tents and cook our meals. All you have to do is concentrate on enjoying the magnificent views and experience.
Do I need specialist kit?
No, you will need to bring good quality walking boots and a 3 - 4 season sleeping bag. Walking poles are a very good idea. A packing checklist will be sent to you in future newsletters.
What does the registration fee cover?
The entire £199 non-refundable registration fee goes to Action Medical Research. It is used to fund all administration involved in organising the trek with resources, staffing, paperwork, production of fundraising and information packs and advertising.
Where will we stay?
Accommodation en route will be very basic, as we will be camping on the trail. At the beginning and end of the trip we will be staying in a hotel in Cuzco and Lima.
What if I can't raise the money?
We require at least 80% (£2,280) of the sponsorship money prior to departure. If you cannot raise the amount, you are liable to forfeit your place on the trek or you may choose to make up the balance yourself. Remember to let us know if you have any difficulties, we can always help you. The deadline for 80% of your sponsorship is 11th April 2009
