Avanti Systems Ltd has raised £50,000 for Action Medical Research’s Touching Tiny Lives campaign in the past 3 years alone, via their annual golf days.

John Birkens (Commercial Director) ran the London Marathon on a number of occasions for the charity, and Barry Bates (Managing Director) had also supported the charity through one of his previous companies in the 1980s. Therefore when they discussed a charity beneficiary for their annual golf day, Action Medical Research was a natural choice!

The Avanti golf days get bigger and better each year. The first event featured celebrities accompanying each team, however 2 years ago saw the introduction of female professionals, who have proven to be a great success.

Avanti is also proud to be amongst the first companies to become Action Partners and their commitment was cemented after visiting Hammersmith Hospital and meeting Jenny Chambers and Dr Catherine Williamson. Jenny suffered from obstetric cholestasis, (a liver disease characterised by severe itching during pregnancy which can have potentially devastating consequences) and we were very impressed with the research Dr Williamson was conducting into the condition. The funds raised from their golf days are allocated directly to support this research.
