Kilimanjaro trek

Join Action Medical Research for a stunning trek along the Marangu Route to the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world!

We start from the Tanzanian side of the mountain and trek along well-maintained paths. Our route takes us through cultivated farmlands, lush fauna- filled jungles, alpine meadows and finally across a barren lunar landscape past spectacular glaciers to the peak at 5,895 metres.

This is a challenging high altitude trek, but you will feel on top of the world when you reach the summit! We arrive at the rim of the crater as the sun rises; if the day is clear we will be able to take in the spectacular views across the savannah plains to Mt Kenya some 360kms away. From here we head across the crater's edge before our final push to the summit.

While the trail is not technically difficult this is a challenging trek and you will need sturdy boots, strong legs and good cardiovascular fitness to complete it. You will be fully supported in the run-up to this challenge; you will receive a comprehensive training guide when you register, along with a kit list and a fundraising guide to help you kick start your fundraising.

To join us for this challenging and rewarding trek we require a non-refundable registration fee of £349 plus your commitment to raise a minimum of £4,000 in sponsorship. Approximately 50 per cent of this will cover your tour costs including air and ground costs; the remainder will fund much needed medical research to help stop the suffering of babies and children caused by disease and disability.
