The 2014 Champions of CycleSport Dinner, supported by Broadstone and BDO LLP, has freewheeled to success, raising an incredible total of around £200,000 to help sick babies and children! This fabulous event, now in its fifth year, took place last night, on 27 November 2014 at an exciting new venue - the Battersea Evolution, with cycling legend Chris Boardman MBE again as the event Ambassador, supported by a host of cycling greats.

Cystic fibrosis: developing a new type of inhaled therapy
The children’s charity Action Medical Research and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust have joined forces to fund a laboratory study to develop a new, once-monthly, inhaled treatment for children with cystic fibrosis (CF).
The total amount awarded for the new study, being led by Professor Steve Hart, of University College London, is £149,062. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is contributing one third.

TV personality Davina McCall hosted her eighth ‘Dine with Davina’ fundraising lunch on Friday 7 November and raised an amazing £33,000 for her favourite children’s charity, Action Medical Research.
The sell-out event, sponsored by Next, brought 400 local ladies to the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel, who always host the event and who kindly offered them welcome drinks as the fun and fine dining commenced!

Up until around five years ago, Chris Hollister admits that he was ‘unfit, a smoker and a couch potato’. That all changed when his partner Catherine fell pregnant – he stopped smoking and started jogging regularly, gradually increasing his fitness. Then everything came to a crashing halt for nearly eight months as tragedy struck...
If a ‘plod’ puts you in mind of a slow steady walk then think again, this event is fast and furious, although your legs may very well be like lead as you reach the finish! The PLOD Midnight Challenges, which take place across Great Britain and raise funds for children’s charity Action Medical Research, aren’t for the faint-hearted but serious teams of endurance striders, willing to navigate strenuous conditions and tough terrain.

Twelve artists from around the country have teamed up to produce a range of Christmas cards where the beneficiary charity, Action Medical Research, receives ALL of the money. Designers, printers and even envelope makers have all collaborated and donated their services for free to ensure the charity receives every penny from every card sold. A similar initiative last year raised £13,000 for the children’s charity. The cards are selling fast and people are being urged to get their orders in now, while stocks last.

Keen cyclist, TV presenter (Channel 5 news) and Cycle Show host, Matt Barbet has just announced that he will be officially welcoming everyone to the Champions of CycleSport Dinner, on 27 November 2014 in aid of children’s charity Action Medical Research. Matt, who attended the event last year and is eagerly looking forward to this year’s dinner said, “It’s a huge honour to be invited to do this.”

In the year of his big screen debut, Paddington Bear is asking nurseries and schools across the UK to help raise vital funds for his favourite charity, Action Medical Research, by taking part in its Bring your Bear event.
It’s very easy to join in, just choose any day during the school year when the children bring their teddy bear, or a favourite soft toy, along with them for the day. Each child brings in a £2 donation with their bear to support vital research to help sick babies and children.
