Saddle up for ‘Davina’s Big Sussex Bike Ride’

Our charity ambassador and local hero Davina McCall is inviting all willing cyclists to join her and raise funds for sick babies and children, on 7 June 2015 at the East Sussex National Hotel and Golf Course, near Uckfield. This is the fifth year she’s been hosting a cycle ride for Action Medical Research, a charity that she’s supported since she was a child and she’s encouraging YOU, whatever shape, size and levels of fitness, to take part!

The 2014 Champions of CycleSport Dinner, supported by Broadstone and BDO LLP, has freewheeled to success, raising an incredible total of around £200,000 to help sick babies and children! This fabulous event, now in its fifth year, took place last night, on 27 November 2014 at an exciting new venue - the Battersea Evolution, with cycling legend Chris Boardman MBE again as the event Ambassador, supported by a host of cycling greats.

Study into new treatment for Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis: developing a new type of inhaled therapy

The children’s charity Action Medical Research and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust have joined forces to fund a laboratory study to develop a new, once-monthly, inhaled treatment for children with cystic fibrosis (CF).

The total amount awarded for the new study, being led by Professor Steve Hart, of University College London, is £149,062. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is contributing one third.

Lunch with a Lift: Record amount raised at Davina's fundraiser

TV personality Davina McCall hosted her eighth ‘Dine with Davina’ fundraising lunch on Friday 7 November and raised an amazing £33,000 for her favourite children’s charity, Action Medical Research.

The sell-out event, sponsored by Next, brought 400 local ladies to the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel, who always host the event and who kindly offered them welcome drinks as the fun and fine dining commenced!

Up until around five years ago, Chris Hollister admits that he was ‘unfit, a smoker and a couch potato’. That all changed when his partner Catherine fell pregnant – he stopped smoking and started jogging regularly, gradually increasing his fitness. Then everything came to a crashing halt for nearly eight months as tragedy struck...

If a ‘plod’ puts you in mind of a slow steady walk then think again, this event is fast and furious, although your legs may very well be like lead as you reach the finish!  The PLOD Midnight Challenges, which take place across Great Britain and raise funds for children’s charity Action Medical Research, aren’t for the faint-hearted but serious teams of endurance striders, willing to navigate strenuous conditions and tough terrain.
