Glorious Molly!
April 2006
Well done to all of those who ran Sunday's Flora London Marathon on our behalf. We had 52 runners this year and if everything goes to plan they are looking to raise over £84,000 for Action Medical Research.

Of course it wouldn't be the marathon without costumed runners and the charities mascot Paddington Bear completed the course in 4 hours 49 minutes with the Red Dragon finishing in 6 hours 45 minutes.
An extra special mention must be made for our 20-person millipede, which made it round the 26.2 mile course in an awesome 5 hours 49 minutes and 5 seconds.
Team organiser Roland Partridge, who works at the Sick Kids hospital in Edinburgh, got the crowd going with his megaphone and the whole team received a standing ovation from other runners, friends and family at the reception point.
"I thought of a millipede because we wanted to break the record for the biggest ever costume team to run in the marathon - we're raising money for the Touching Tiny Lives campaign, and because research into premature birth and pregnancy complications is such an under funded area, we wanted a big team to raise as much money as possible for the campaign. We also thought that you really can't miss a giant millipede, and that will help us bring attention to an area which is often forgotten."

As a team, the millipede runners hope to raise £30,000 for the Touching Tiny Lives campaign, which aims to give all babies the very best start in life.
