The best experience of my life!! Still on a high 2 weeks later. A fantastic route, fantastic scenery, great weather and the support crew from AMR, Extreme Catering, Action Challenge, the bike mechanics and physios all made the experience something I will remember for the rest of my life. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone looking for the ultimate challenge :-)
I’m still eating like a man possessed! Still buzzing! My wife is getting sick of me rabbitting on about it and it will take many months until normality is restored, if ever! Thanks to all of you for the best time and an experience of a lifetime, I will return on another event in another place.
A great challenge for a great cause; I had no problem raising almost £4k as people were so willing to give for AMR. The event itself was epic (mainly for the weather) and the support from AMR and their team of organisers, mechanics, chefs, medics, marshalls & guides was excellent ... I wish I was doing it again. I have written up my experiences here http://www.lejog4amr.co.uk/ Do it ... it will be memorable ...
AMR inaugural UK E2E May 2011.
Thoroughly enjoyed a very tough challenge. Fantastic organisation and superb catering from Extreme Hospitality. Brilliant Mechanics from Cycle-Tec & a fabulous bunch of friendly, helpful cyclists ranging in age from 18 to 64! Some testing climbs too. End of day 1 climb to Okehampton Training Camp & Ardendrain Hill on Day 8 being 2 toughest. Weather was terrible, especially Day 7's 145 mile epic through Glen Coe - I will never forget it. Proud to have cycled every inch of this very rewarding event. Wish I could go again in 2012.
This was by far the greatest challenge I had undertaken in my life so far. It is not something to be under estimated, but then what challenge is?
A truly wonderful experience, only enriched by the vagaries of the British weather, the support and donations from friends and family, the weight loss and the personal confidence and satisfaction from having done successfully what I had always wanted to do! A potentially life changing experience.
Action Medical Research and Action Challenge did a fantastic job in creating and managing this event. Truly, this event with their support is one of the greats. Do it ... be different ... make a difference!
"This is a fantastic challenge for a fantastic charity! Don’t think about it, do it". Davina McCall - Action Medical Research supporter and Sport Relief cyclist
"I have had the pleasure of cycling with the Action team and cannot recommend their events highly enough to all new and experienced cyclists. Have a great time and enjoy your cycling with Action Medical Research" Dave Brailsford - Performance Director, British Cycling
"Thanks for an awesome few days last week – it was thoroughly enjoyable and I have to say the team involved and organisation of the event was fantastic. The organisation of these things isn’t easy, and to deal with such a variety of individuals and abilities is no easy task – well done to you all! And as for the routes I thought they were excellent – a good variety of climbs, descents, scenery, road conditions etc etc are important and the routes chosen provided some great variety on all of the days. And as for the run into Paris, well that was fantastic – a great experience and you can see why a lot of folk are so emotional at the end of it. Many thanks once again to you and your team and well done for raising so much for such a worthwhile cause." – Cameron Laird, London to Paris 2009
"I wanted to thank you and everyone at Action Medical Research for organising a terrific event this year. For me personally it’s been the most inspiring event I’ve ever participated in, and I leave it with a great sense of achievement both in terms of the physical exertion and the scale of fundraising achieved" - Phil Hodkinson, Vuelta a Mallorca 2009
