Helping children affected by disability and infections

Many thousands of families across the UK are coping with the relentless daily challenge of supporting a child affected by cerebral palsy; or dealing with the impact of disabling condition like juvenile arthritis, diabetes, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and stroke.

The charity is also supporting research that aims to find new ways to tackle potentially deadly infections like meningitis and septicaemia, pneumonia and MRSA.

Supporting disabled children

Supporting disabled children

Our most recently funded projects continue a proud history of helping to reduce the suffering endured by children with disabilities caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, blindness or learning disabilities.

We are also investing in vital research to help children dealing with the lifelong impact of disabling conditions like arthritis, diabetes, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and stroke.

Preventing and treating infections

Preventing and treating infections

We know that babies and children are vulnerable to infection. Meningitis and septicaemia for example, kills more children in the UK than any other infection and can devastate the lives of those whose survive. Many are left with severe and permanent disabilities including deafness, epilepsy and learning disabilities.

Action Medical Research is supporting vital research to tackle meningitis and septicaemia, and other potentially deadly infections like pneumonia and MRSA.

We know medical research can save children’s lives. Our early research contributed to the development and adoption of the polio and rubella vaccines in the UK. With your help we can help improve prevention and treatment of other diseases.
