...and you're saying...this fits me...right?
..i'm going to be a folk singer with impeccable credentials...
We are suspecting that they are identicals. What do you think?
Julie is doing fine, she's still filling the freezers with milk some thirteen weeks since the twins were born and she's in brilliant spirits, especially as she can now DRESS THEM UP.
She stays over at the hospital a couple of nights a week and gets to feed them in the middle of the night. We carry each other when it's tough and never shy away from talking things all the way out.
Tonight we found out that Aubrey and Edmund are back in the same room again. Edmund's out of intensive care and into special care and both our boys have hardly any breathing support and are in cots NEXT TO EACH OTHER. The first time they've been in close proximity since they were denizens of the big pulpy thing which moved and sang.
Some people were asking why we don't know whether or not they are identical. Well they had just one placenta, one chorion and two amnions, which means one big life support system, one big bag to hold them both, and two swimming pools to lounge about in!
All the books/internet/wise old women say that one chorion gives a 66% chance of them being identical.
Our boys were due this Sunday. It's their due date and we're having a due date party at the hospital.
Aubrey and Edmund were transported by ambulance to our local hospital last night, so now, weighing in at 4 and a half and 4 and a quarter pounds respectively, they're on their way home!
Just got to get them feeding au naturel round the clock and they'll be home.
And today they get a visit from the Minister for Health, does it get any better than this?

Here's a picture of them last night in their travelling incubator, on the way out of the hospital people were looking in and got really freaked out..i expect some of them were thinking....THAT BABY'S GOT A HEAD AT EACH END!!!
The boys are looking more and more identical. It's scary. Latest news is they might be home in 4 weeks and without oxygen. They had their first bath, their feet stank, and have passed eyesight and hearing tests with full colours.
So now it's..spot the difference. Please bear in mind that Edmund weighs a whole 8 ounces more than Aubrey.
Just to let you know. Aubrey and Edmund are doing fine. Superfine in fact.
They're still in the local hospital and are off to Lewisham to have their hernias fixed next week.
Then in about 3 weeks time they're coming home.
After a total of 20 weeks in hospital.
It's also looking like they'll come home without needing oxygen cylinders and their spooky identicalness has even meant that they both have EXACTLY the same splodge of birthmark on the back of their heads, which brings home just how genetically identical they are.
And we love them because Aubrey is Sergeant Wilson and Edmund is Captain Mainwaring. Hurrah.

Happy birthday to two very special little boys.
Born at 25 weeks and 4 days the twins are already veteran charity campaigners for the Action Medical Research Touching Tiny Lives campaign and we have been lucky enough to follow their amazing first year on this website.
