Dave Brailsford CBE will add to the glitz quotient at the star-studded evening in aid of Action Medical Research
Dave Brailsford CBE, the man behind Team GB’s success at London 2012 will attend children’s charity’s annual Champions of CycleSport Dinner, supported by Wiggle on Thursday 22 November.
Dave, performance director of British Cycling and team principal of Team Sky said: “I am delighted to support Action Medical Research and the fantastic work they do. Fast becoming a very popular event in the cycling industry, this dinner is a fitting end to a very successful cycling season. Here is to a brilliant night in support of a very worthy cause!”
Children’s charity Action Medical Research has partnered with UK’s No.1 online cycle and tri-sport retailer, Wiggle, for its third annual Champions of CycleSport dinner which will be held at The Hurlingham Club in London.
This star-studded event celebrates Action Medical Research’s passion for all things cycling. The 650 guests will be joined by some of the biggest names on two wheels including Chris Boardman MBE, Joanna Rowsell, Jody Cundy and Dani King.
Last year Action Medical Research’s Champions of CycleSport dinner was attended by the UK’s cycling elite and raised a fantastic £100,000 to help sick babies, children with disabilities and those suffering from a rare disease. Guests enjoyed the chance to mingle with their heroes and bid on a whole host of money-can’t-buy cycling and desirable items in the live and silent auctions.
This year Action Medical Research celebrates 60 years of vital research. The charity is currently supporting work around Down syndrome, meningitis, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, premature birth and some very rare conditions that severely affect children.

Action Medical Research - the leading UK-wide medical research charity dedicated to helping babies and children - is celebrating 60 years of vital research in 2012. We’ve been funding medical breakthroughs since we began in 1952 and have spent more than £100 million on research that has helped save thousands of children’s lives and changed many more. Today, we continue to find and fund the very best medical research to help stop the suffering of babies and children caused by disease and disability. We want to make a difference in:
• tackling premature birth and treating sick and vulnerable babies
• helping children affected by disability, disabling conditions and infections
• targeting rare diseases that together severely affect many forgotten children.
But there is still so much more to do. Make 2012 a special year and help fund more life-changing research for some of the UK’s sickest babies and children.
