A quick e-mail to congratulate you on a fantastic event last weekend – my partner and I took part on the pink tandem – unfortunately my knees gave out at Goudhurst and we were unable to complete the course on Penelope (the tandem) but we are incredibly proud of how far we got on the day, and overall, given the cycle to the start from where we stayed on Saturday night, and the diversion where we followed the riders who took the longer route, we weren’t far short of 100 miles (so hopefully my sponsors will still pay out!). We’ve both been injured lately so had missed out on a good month’s training, and were rattling with pain killers & anti-inflammatories, so all in all we did pretty well and I’m not going to beat myself up (much) for not finishing on two wheels. A few words for the couple looking after the Goudhurst stop – they were awesome – I was rather distraught when we stopped and they were so kind, looking after us until the sweeper van picked us up, feeding and watering us, and making us a tea whist continuing to clear up the station – they were great, so please pass on our thanks. The other stops were also really good – managed by really friendly, encouraging people and well stocked with munchies and drinks and as for lunch? What can I say it was amazing, and very, very welcome. It was also remarkable not having to queue for the ladies loo anywhere – I usually run, and have stood in so many queues for the ladies’ where the men just wander in and out of the gents – it was so nice to see the roles reversed for a change! Anyway, thanks again for yesterday – you all did brilliantly – the event was very well managed and you should all be very proud of yourselves.

How many hills are there in Kent? I feel I went up every single one, twice. Beautiful day for it and a very well-organised event. Good to have the encouragement of other riders (particular thanks to Mark from Blandford Forum) Another commendation for the excellent flapjack!

This is a very challenging, yet fantastic ride. On the down side - the state of the roads!! I know that KCC haven't got to all the potholes yet, but from a cyclists perspective, the roads were terrible and a downright hazard in many instances. Where a makeshift repair had been instated, the gravel left on the surface helped ensure a treacherous surface. Also, there is general consensus amongst riders with speedometers, that the course distance was closer to 105-miles. Not cool to see a "10-miles to go" board and your onboard speedo reckons you've done 95 already. Nonetheless, great marshals, great feed zones, and friendly atmosphere all round.

I would just like to say that we thought the organisation of today's Castle 100 event was absolutely superb. Thanks to you, your team and all of the people we encountered along the route as marshals feed zone helpers etc. Despite being completely shattered now, we thoroughly enjoyed the ride!

Having completed your castle 100 today i thought I would send a brief email, to say thank you very much to the whole team involved with the event. I appreciate there is a lot of 'behind the scenes' work, as well as all the hard work put in on the day for as far I'm concerned what was a very well run event. This is the first time I have taken part in your ride, and have been very impressed with the route, a fantastic choice of roads, very quiet, and encompassing some challenging climbs and flowing descents. The signage on the day was very clear and even I was unable to get lost, which is no mean achievement! Also a big thank you to all the marshals, motorbike outriders, and your teams on the feed stations, I appreciate the effort and organisation that has gone into what are often unappreciated positions. Now to collect my sponsorship, and looking forward to next year.

I would really like to thank you and the team for another fantastically well organised event. It was a real joy. Thanks particularly to the lady who had baked 800 home made flapjacks at Goudhurst!

Just wanted to say how much (except the weather on the day) I enjoyed the ride and the excellent organisation - including food and drink (included in the end energy drinks). The lunch stop despite my early concerns was just brilliant and in the conditions much needed. I have done a number of sportives and yours rates in the top league.

Tell us what you thought of Castle Ride 100 so that we can improve our service for future years.
