Sail the Solent

Learn to sail in one day with a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) qualified instructor before taking part in a 60-mile race around the Isle of Wight and earn your RYA Start Sailing certificate.

Teams of six will learn how to sail in just one day before taking part in our mini-regatta race around the beautiful Isle of Wight. This classic race has been undertaken by most of the great sailors of our time, this is your chance to join their ranks and take on the elements in a fun, exhilarating challenge.

The adventure begins when your team arrive in Gosport on Friday evening to meet your skipper and make yourselves at home on board your home for the weekend, a 40-foot yacht. There will be the chance to meet your competitors at a BBQ onshore. Your professional skipper will make sure you are learn all aspects of sailing from understanding the wind, setting the sails and taking the helm.

You will spend Saturday with your professional skipper showing you the ropes.

Sunday is race day! You and your fellow crew-mates will take charge of the yacht (under the watchful eye of your skipper!) and will make all of the tactical and sailing decisions in order to be the fastest team around the Isle of Wight.

Sailing is all about team work, skill and most of all having fun. So why not challenge your friends or colleagues to a race? The champagne finish, celebration meal and prizes for the winners ensure that all your efforts are rewarded!
