Hi,

Thank you for visiting my sponsorship page.

After interviewing Go Wests Richard Drummie who had recently returned from an Action Medical Research trek in Peru, I made the rash suggestion that I should do something for the charity.

I have not really done any excercise since I left school (and I tried to avoid it even then !) so while I doubt I'd manage a trek through the jungle, I reckon that between now (November 2011) and July (2012) I can get fit enough to ride 100km through the Lancashire countryside.

Once I had volunteered myself, my friend Jonie agreed to come on the ride with me and within 24 hours his dad had signed up to the team as well.

For almost 60 years the charity has been behind numerous breakthroughs such as the UK polio vaccine, ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, and more recently the fetal heart rate monitor a new state-of-the-art device that could help save thousands of at-risk babies.

I know that money is tight and that many charities are competing for your donations so I appreciate every £ that you can spare.

Action Medical Research relies entirely on donations to fund a range of research projects that address serious childhood conditions and improve quality of life for children with disabilities.

You will also be supporting research to reduce premature birth, prevent pregnancy complications that threaten babies' lives, and find the best ways to care for sick and vulnerable babies.

Please tick the Gift Aid box if you are a UK tax payer as the UK Government will contribute an additional 25% on the money that I have raised.

Thanks again.
