Hi, My name is Lance Halfstrong, aka Ray Hales. I am the founder of the HALFSTRONG Academy, and captain of the Lanterne Rouge Club de Cyclisme. We may not be the fastest, but we stick to one simple rule never, EVER, give in. I have also been asked to join the legendary PHUK.dis team (they made me an offer I couldn't understand).
I cycled the London to Paris in 2007, and it was one of the most, interesting, amazing, exhausting, fun, scary, wonderful, stupid, exillerating things I have done in a long time – and I have been around for a long time! It was so mad,I did it again in 2008.
I had planned to do the ride in 2009, but unfortunately my health took a serious turn for the worse, and I had to undergo major abdominal surgery just as the ride was taking place. I was there in spirit, and I am determined to be there again this year.
Charities like Action Medical Research really do make a difference. Each year, the 450+ riders on the routes raise over £750,000 – well worth every ache, pain and sore backside! The money goes into research into many childhood illnesses and diseases, and although Action Medical Research may not be the biggest charity, it makes a big difference where it counts!
