Event: London to Paris 2010
Date of event: 21 July 2010
Hello Everyone,
Thank you for visiting my sponsorship page.
Those of you who know me well may be surprised that I have volunteered for an endurance event, such as the London-Paris Cycle 2010!
The inspiration for this is my sister Wendy, who died on Christmas Day 2008, at the age of 41. In addition to the difficulties Wendy had suffered in adult life, several months before her death she endured the stillbirth of her only child, Megan. I believe this tragic event contributed to Wendy's premature death, from bronchopneumonia complicating 'flu'. She died before experiencing the joy of children, and a happy family life, and this makes me more determined to treasure the gifts of life, family and friends. I am fortunate to have three lovely children, as well as a fabulous husband, Jon, who has supported me through a very difficult year. My other sister, Ali, has been my sounding board, and her three ' little ones' are a refreshing reminder of innocent childhood.
'Carpe Diem' is my current motto- I look forward to raising money for a worthy charity, and I am ready for the challenge of preparing for a 328 mile cycle ride!
I am joined in this endeavor by Jon, and our good friends Tessa and Dick, all three of whom claim to have 'one good knee left', so we shall see....

I am raising money for Action Medical Research, a great children's charity dedicated to improving the health of babies and children in the UK.
For almost 60 years the charity has been behind numerous breakthroughs such as the UK polio vaccine, ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, and more recently the fetal heart rate monitor a new state-of-the-art device that could help save thousands of at-risk babies.
Action Medical Research relies entirely on donations to fund a range of research projects that address serious childhood conditions and improve quality of life for children with disabilities.
You will also be supporting the Touching Tiny Lives appeal which is raising funds to help reduce premature birth and improve care of sick and vulnerable babies. Your support will help continue this potentially life-saving work.
Please tick the Gift Aid box if you are a UK tax payer as the UK Government will contribute an additional 25% on the money that I have raised.
Thanks again.
