Douglas Allen join the fight for little lives

A branch of Essex-based estate agents Douglas Allen have hopped on their bikes to cycle around the world to raise more than £300 for Action Medical Research.

The Chingford branch took part in the cycling challenge – which all Douglas Allen and Arun Estates partner companies (Cubitt & West, Pittis, Rooney & Co and Ward & Partners) will be embarking on throughout the year – and have successfully raised £318.43 for us.

Each office will be taking their turn to get on their static bikes and cycle as many kilometres as possible, to reach a whopping total of 30,751km company-wide. Chingford successfully accomplished 317km and got into the Egyptian spirit by dressing up as pharaohs and decking out the office with a background of the iconic pyramids. Here’s Jess Roche, Marketing Consultant for the Chingford branch, to tell us more:

We decided to host the event as Arun Estates gave us the challenge to cycle around the world. Knowing that it was for a fantastic cause, Team Chingford decided to give it our all!

We started racking our brains and came up with the idea to be Egypt. We ordered some outfits and a huge backdrop of a desert with the pyramids on. Three of us took part on the day but our manager, who was in Mexico at the time, was also recruiting people for donations. We spread the word via Facebook and other social media sites to make sure all of our friends and family would also help us with our fundraising.

On the day, the scene was set! The static bike was outside, we had some Egyptian music playing and, in our fancy dress outfits, we set out to raise as much money as possible.

All day the kind people of Chingford were donating to us and our total raised so far is £318.43.

The most enjoyable part was that the feeling of community is still really strong in Chingford; it was great for team bonding and ultimately we spent the day making a difference and having a laugh whilst doing it. I’m sure further into the year we will have another great day fundraising – just watch this space!

Douglas Allen and the rest of the Arun Estates team will be cycling the remaining miles until November, with further funds being raised for Action Medical Research.
