Speaking about Action

Speaker Ambassador Colin Hales (pictured above with Action's Volunteer Development Manager Jane Charlton) makes contact with local groups, clubs and organisations, such as Rotary clubs and cricket clubs, and talks to them about the vital work that Action Medical Research is doing… in this blog for Volunteers Week, he tells us why it’s such an inspiring role:

It is a privilege and a pleasure to be a Speaker Ambassador for Action Medical Research for Children, speaking to local community groups and societies about the work and impact of the charity.

It is a privilege because it means having the opportunity to spread awareness and appreciation of how Action is fighting for little lives through the life-saving and transforming medical research which it supports. It is especially rewarding to create a 'lightbulb moment' in the audience by showing the connection between the vital medical advances, of which many of those to whom I speak had heard, and the charity, of which many, until then, had not.

It is an enormous pleasure because of the warm reception and hospitality I always receive from the groups to whom I speak, their genuine interest and great admiration for what Action does and their generous support.

What an enjoyable and rewarding way to help make a difference to the wonderful charity which makes such a huge difference to little lives!
