Action's Christmas Springfields Gift Fair, Spalding, Lincolnshire

1 October 2014

The Spalding Committee of the children’s charity Action Medical Research is holding its twelfth annual Christmas Gift Fair at Springfields Event Centre on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 November 2014.

This year’s fair offers visitors more choice than ever before with around 60 stalls taking part. All of those stalls need extra space so, for the first time, the fair will be held in Springfields’ largest hall. The move also means the Café Bar will be situated in the same hall and will be open for the duration, so visitors can take a break from their Christmas shopping to have coffee or a light lunch and chat with family and friends.

To add to the festive feel, the committee is organising a drinks reception on the Monday evening, complete with canapés and ‘fizz’.  For Tuesday visitors there are other treats in store – over lunch there’s a show featuring fashion from the stalls and later on there’s a full afternoon tea. Tickets for the drinks party and afternoon tea must be booked in advance – please go to www.facebook.com/SpaldingAMRChristmasGiftFair  to find out how to apply.

Event organiser, Petronella Keeling MBE DL, Lincolnshire Chair for Action Medical Research, said, “There’s always a really friendly atmosphere at the Fair, with lots of great stalls offering a wide range of Christmas gifts, as well as plenty of treats for those of us doing the buying! It’s a wonderful opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit with family and friends, while helping raise funds to help sick and disabled babies and children at the same time.”

Money raised from the event will go to Action Medical Research. Research is the key to saving many children from a lifetime of suffering. Yet surprisingly, medical research into conditions that devastate children’s lives is poorly funded. The charity is currently funding work around stillbirth, epilepsy, meningitis, cerebral palsy and brain cancer, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.
