Are you ready for a hardcore cycling challenge in 2013?

17 January 2013

“Harder than the ironman,” as a 2012 participant put it – RIDE24 is THE hardcore cycling challenge for 2013.

The original and best 24-hour non-stop endurance cycle race, RIDE24 will push you to your limits. Is your cycling stamina up to the challenge?

The date: Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September. The venue: Thruxton Motor Circuit – the fastest track in the UK. RIDE24 racers will take on the 2.4 mile smooth circuit, with one small climb and wonderful 60-foot wide sweeping bends, an experience not to be missed!

Operated under British Cycling technical regulations, the event is open to relay teams of four as well as solo riders. Entry from just £60 includes free race support, free 24-hour hot and cold cycling friendly food and free energy drinks and packs from HIGH5 – as well as hot showers and free massage.

The team with the most laps covered in 24 hours will win the coveted RIDE24 WINNERS TEAM title and trophy, held for two years now by a team from the University of Birmingham. The gauntlet has been thrown down for 2013 – are you ready to take on the reigning champions?

RIDE24 is organised by children’s charity Action Medical Research and funds raised will help sick babies and children. The charity is currently supporting work around Down syndrome, epilepsy, sickle cell disease, and diabetes, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children. Last year’s event raised more than £70,000 for the charity.

Action Medical Research is the leading UK-wide medical research charity dedicated to helping babies and children. We’ve been funding medical breakthroughs since we began in 1952 and have funded research that has helped save thousands of children’s lives and changed many more. Today, we continue to find and fund the very best medical research to help stop the suffering of babies and children caused by disease and disability. We want to make a difference in:

  • tackling premature birth and treating sick and vulnerable babies
  • helping children affected by disability, disabling conditions and infections
  • targeting rare diseases that together severely affect many forgotten children.

But there is still so much more to do. Please help us fund more life-changing research for some of the UK’s sickest babies and children.
