Thousands of teddy bear lovers throughout the nation will be bearing their toys in public next week (19th-25th June) to join Paddington Bear in his birthday celebrations.
TV personality Jenny Powell, who is helping with the preparations, said: “He can’t wait for he birthday next week to hear about all the events and how much money everyone has raised.”
They will all be raising money for Paddington’s favourite charity - Action Research, one of Britain’s leading medical charities.
Those taking part, from the Shetland Islands to Cornwall, include hundreds of brownie and guide packs, schools and companies.
Everyone is planning different events and competitions for their “Bring Your Bear” day - they will be kidnapping their boss’s bear, baking marmalade cakes and planning teddy bear picnics.
Paddington’s Birthday is on June 25th.
Bring Your Bear week is part of ‘Paddington’s Suitcase Challenge’, the charity’s 1999 campaign to raise £1 million for children’s diseases.
Projects funded by Action Research include vital work on meningitis, cot death and premature birth.
