Calling all cyclists for unique Brighton bike ride
Children’s charity, Action Medical Research is calling for cyclists to take part in a fantastic circular cycling route of Brighton. Open to all ages, it’s guaranteed to be a great family day out, as participants start out and finish on Brighton and Hove seafront on Sunday 22 June 2014. The event is one of four routes available as part of the LA Fitness Capital to Coast, London to Brighton, charity bike ride.
The 60-mile circular Brighton option starts and finishes on the Kings Lawns in Hove. There is also a ride that starts from the famous London Eye and cyclists can choose from two great routes down to the coast and cycle some of the South’s glorious and historic country roads. Riders on the London to Brighton route will join TV medic Dr Dawn Harper, from Channel 4 Embarrassing Bodies, who will be cycling for Action Medical Research. In addition, there is a 60-mile ride from Kempton Park Racecourse to Brighton. Participants will arrive in Brighton to a roar of celebration before heading off to bag some well-deserved fish and chips.
The four routes available are:
60 miles: Brighton to Brighton (circular route)
75 miles: Central London (EDF Energy London Eye) to Brighton
60 miles: Central London (EDF Energy London Eye) to Brighton
60 miles: Kempton Park Racecourse to Brighton
On the day, there will be free refreshments, mechanical assistance and first aid support available on route.
Cyclists riding for Action Medical Research will be raising money to help sick and disabled babies and children. Medical research can save and change children’s lives. Yet surprisingly, medical research into conditions that devastate children’s lives is poorly funded. The charity is currently supporting work around stillbirth, epilepsy, meningitis, cerebral palsy and brain cancer, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.
Advance registration fee is £30 and there is a sponsorship target of £200.
