Chapter cycle into Action for fourth birthday

18 April 2013

A team from Midlands based advertising agency Chapter will take on the Warwickshire 100 bike ride to raise money for children’s charity Action Medical Research on Sunday 28 April.

The agency, which is based in Wythall and four years old this month, was inspired to sign up for the ride after working with the charity to develop a new campaign that promotes Action Medical Research’s  programme of cycling events.

The team of ten, which includes one of the founding partners Mike Rose, features a mix of cycling abilities and the ride will be the first challenge of its kind for all the participants.

The Warwickshire 100 starts and finishes at Stratford-upon-Avon Racecourse, with riders following one of three routes along quiet rural lanes through picturesque villages in the heart of Shakespeare country. Sights along the way include Mary Arden’s House in Wilmcote, home of the playwright’s mother, and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage at Shottery, his wife’s childhood home.

Chapter team members Rachel Givens, Cheryl Jackson, Pete Merrills, Richard Glover and Joe Glover will embark on the event’s new shorter ‘cool’ route of 37 miles, while Mike Rose, Paul Ray and Kieran McMenamin take on the ‘classic’ 64-mile route. Guillaume Cocken and Nick Castle are getting ready to tackle the toughest ‘champion’ route of 102 miles.

Mike Rose, Chapter MD said: “For us there was no better way to celebrate our fourth birthday. The event reflects a lot about the last four years for the business. The effort, the determination, the team we’ve assembled, but above all it mirrors our aim to keep decency and fairness at the heart of our culture. Given our connection with Action Medical Research and the fantastic work they do the Warwickshire 100 was a natural choice – and the very least we can do.”

The Warwickshire 100 is part of the charity’s RIDE100 series which is supported by leading bike brand Trek. All rides include food and water stations, chip timing, marshals and mechanics.
