Children’s charity offers team building and CSR opportunities

27 February 2014

Children’s charity, Action Medical Research offers a range of events perfect for company team-building and away days. From cycling events; the London to Paris (with its intense 24-hour option), RIDE24 and regional RIDE100s, to the Three Peaks trek, PLOD overnight walking challenges and Walk for Tiny Lives events, the charity really has a challenge for every team.

Action Medical Research is renowned for its well organised events and participants can expect to have all the logistics taken care of while they focus on and enjoy the experience and work as a team to conquer the challenge. People return year after year to take part in Action events, not only to claim a new personal best, but because they are well planned and friendly challenges.

Companies and their team members can feel positive knowing they are helping to raise money for sick and disabled babies and children. Medical research can save and change children’s lives. Yet surprisingly, medical research into conditions that devastate children’s lives is poorly funded.  The charity is currently supporting work around stillbirth, epilepsy, meningitis, cerebral palsy and brain cancer, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.

There are also a number of other ways that companies can get involved with the charity and boost their CSR activities. From Charity of the Year, to one-off funding, to regular staff fundraising events, Action offers an option for every level of involvement and budget.

Action Medical Research relies entirely on voluntary funding. The loyalty and generosity of the charity’s key partners are crucial to Action’s work, each making a valuable contribution to the costs of funding projects. In return, the charity offers an established name with a history of high-profile medical innovation and breakthroughs, including:
Introducing the first polio vaccines in the UK.
Discovering the importance of taking folic acid before and during pregnancy to prevent spina Bifida.
Developing the use of ultrasound technology in pregnancy.
Creating the Matrix Seating System to help support physically disabled children as they grow.
Testing the rubella vaccine.
