Cream tea lovers: fancy winning a retro Smeg mixer?

7 May 2015

Tea lovers can enjoy a break – and be in with a chance of winning a gorgeous food mixer, courtesy of Smeg, if they sign up for Action Medical Research’s Cream Teas in a Box.

The children’s charity is again calling on residents and businesses across the country to enjoy a cuppa as part of its annual fundraising campaign.

Its wonderfully scrumptious and refreshing British cream teas will be delivered directly to workplaces, schools and colleges on Thursday 18 June 2015.

This year, the perfect afternoon pick-me-up (which comes in a box priced just £6) will contain two classic plain scones, two small jars of strawberry jam, Rodda’s Cornish clotted cream and three strawberry crème chocolates, as well as the more traditional Yorkshire Tea, knife and serviette.

Those who order their delicious treats online by 22 May at www.action.org.uk/cream-teas have a chance to win a Smeg 50’s Retro Style stand mixer.

Tracey Edwards, Action’s Cream Tea Events Manager, says: “There’s no excuse not to take a break and support Action Medical Research – especially with this great prize in the mix! Whether you like your cream tea traditional or with a twist, the choice is yours… just place the minimum order of 10 for the chance to bond over a brew with friends and colleagues and win a Smeg mixer.

“Last year, our volunteers packed 9,000 cream tea boxes and 18,000 scones were polished off - help us make 2015 even bigger and raise funds for sick babies and children.”

Research is the key to saving many children from a lifetime of suffering, yet surprisingly, medical research into conditions that devastate children’s lives is poorly funded. Action Medical Research is currently funding work around stillbirth, epilepsy, meningitis, cerebral palsy and brain cancer, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.

Action Medical Research is a leading UK-wide charity working to save and change children’s lives through medical research. We believe that the diseases that devastate the lives of so many of our children can be beaten. We have been funding medical breakthroughs since we began in 1952 like the first polio vaccines in the UK, ultrasound in pregnancy and the rubella vaccine – helping to save thousands of children’s lives and change many more.

Just one breakthrough, however small, can mean the world. Charity reg. nos 208701 and SC039284.
