Estate Agent ‘raises the roof’ on fundraising levels with a bike ride for Action Medical Research
David Lench, Managing Director of Arun Estates, the extensive South East chain of estate agents, has taken fundraising to a new level with his latest challenge for children’s charity Action Medical Research. Aiming for a target of £100,000 to be split between Action Medical Research and chYps, David and his friend, Kevin Hafner have already raised around £64,000 (the equivalent to over £70,000 with gift aid) by completing the gruelling Lands End to John O’Groats bicycle ride.
The dynamic property duo, both relative cycling novices, covered over 1,000 miles and climbed hills of between 5-6,000 feet, between 6 and 21 September 2014. David said he felt fantastic on finishing and he and Kevin celebrated with a bottle of bubbly, popping the cork in the direction of Land’s End!
David is by no means new to fundraising for Action Medical Research, having entered the Three Peaks Bike and Hike in 2010 and a variety of other challenges and initiatives including tackling Kilimanjaro and Race the Sun.
Over the past four years, and before he embarked on this challenge, David and his colleagues have raised nearly £80,000 through runs, rides and triathlons, cake sales, dress down days, family days and cabaret evenings. Earlier this year, 73 staff teams entered the 2014 Blenheim Triathlon and raised further funds through the Action Cream teas.
