Frog Bikes supports Champions of CycleSport Dinner 2013
Frog Bikes, the British company that makes lightweight children's bikes, today announces their sponsorship support of the Action Medical Research annual Champions of CycleSport Dinner. The 2013 star-studded event aims to top the £178,000 raised by last year’s event to fund vital research to help sick babies and children.
Tickets are now on sale for the annual event to be held at London’s exclusive Hurlingham Club, Thursday 28 November, which is attended by some of the biggest names on two wheels. Names already confirmed for this year’s Dinner include Chris Boardman MBE, who is official Ambassador for the event, as well as Jonathan Tiernan-Locke and Jody Cundy.
Frog believes that the lighter the bike, the easier it is for children to learn to ride, and to enjoy it more as they progress. The founders, Jerry and Shelley, are a couple who have two small children of their own – both keen cyclists. So they know something about what motivates children to get on their bikes! Since the first prototype arrived, the bikes have always been robustly tested by the children and all their friends.
Co-founder Shelley Lawson from Frog Bikes says: “Frog Bikes is delighted to announce their support of Action Medical Research. Because children are at the centre of our business, it is great to play a part in raising money to support the children’s charity to help sick babies and children.”
“Frog bikes are sold through independent stores and are specifically developed with smaller riders in mind. The lightweight frames are all aluminium, and the bikes have branded components from Tektro and Shimano. Children love the bright colours and innovative designs, and parents love the fact that they can easily lift the bikes onto the roof rack!”
More than 650 guests attended the 2012 dinner and got the chance to mingle with cycling greats including Olympic gold medallist Joanna Rowsell MBE, Team GB supremo Sir Dave Brailsford, Rob Hayles and Rochelle Gilmore. Bids were made on a host of money-can’t-buy cycling lots in the live and silent auctions and the night raised nearly £180,000 for Action Medical Research.
Action Medical Research Head of Community and Events Fundraising, David Graham, says: “Cycling contributes significant income towards our important work saving and changing children’s lives and the Champions of CycleSport Dinner is a huge celebration of that. The event gets bigger and better every year and we are thrilled to have Frog Bikes as part of the peloton.”
The event will also be supported by Wiggle and Media Partner Rouleur. Both partnerships will guarantee some fabulous offers and prizes for guests.
