TV stylist Gok Wan made a surprise appearance at the annual Action Medical Research Ladies’ Lunch at the Glasgow Hilton.
The star of How to Look Good Naked came to auction tickets to his live show at the event on Friday November 2nd, which was attended by almost 600 ladies.
They were also entertained by speaker Dr John Paul Leach, consultant neurologist at the Southern General Hospital, and actor Tom Urie, who is currently on tour with comedienne Karen Dunbar.
The event was sponsored by Ross Hall Hospital and raised £96,000, which will help fund vital medical research.
Action Medical Research relies entirely on voluntary support and is currently funding a range of projects in hospitals and universities in Scotland. These include a Scotland-wide study of children with inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis, which it is hoped will one day lead to new treatments, as well as a University of Aberdeen project to develop a new form of robot therapy to help improve co-ordination in children with Developmental Co-ordination Disorder (Dyspraxia).
The charity is also supporting research teams in Edinburgh and Glasgow as part of its Touching Tiny Lives campaign to find answers to premature birth and pregnancy complications.
