Action Medical Research wishes Tony Hadley luck on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here | Action Medical Research

Good luck to our ambassador Tony Hadley luck on his jungle adventure

10 November 2015

Children’s charity Action Medical Research has wished long-term supporter Tony Hadley the best of luck for his stint on I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.

The Spandau Ballet frontman is no stranger to epic outdoor adventures, having taken part in Action Medical Research’s trek to Peru in 2003, hiked through the mountains in Venezuela in 2006 and covered Costa Rica from coast to coast through the jungle in 2008, helping to raise more than £500,000.

Over the past 12 years he has been an enthusiastic ambassador for the children’s charity, giving sparkling performances at social events and hosting an annual Tony Hadley Golf Classic near Peterborough which raised £25,000 in September.

Jenny Edwards, Director of Fundraising at Action Medical Research, wished the Gold hitmaker well in the Australian jungle.

“We wish Tony the very best of luck for his time in the jungle – he’s already proven he can handle life in the Great Outdoors a number of times while raising money for our work funding research to tackle the diseases that devastate the lives of so many of our children,” she says.

Action Medical Research is a UK-wide children’s charity which has been funding medical breakthroughs since it began in 1952, including helping to introduce the first polio vaccines in the UK, developing the use of ultrasound in pregnancy and testing the rubella vaccine.

It is currently funding research into meningitis, Down syndrome, epilepsy and premature birth, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.
