Great North Run - Letter to Editors

26 June 2007
Calling all runners! Dear Editor, The charity Action Medical Research is looking for people to join its ‘A Team’ of runners in this September’s BUPA Great North Run – the world’s largest half-marathon. With just a couple of months to go now, you can only secure a place in this extremely popular race through a charity. Action Medical Research has a number of guaranteed places – and one could have your name on it! We are looking for experienced and non-experienced runners alike – you could be running a half-marathon for the first time, aiming for a personal best, or enjoying the fun of running in fancy dress! This year we have our mascot, Paddington Bear, taking part, as well as a group of people dressed as bunny girls – though you are welcome to wear whatever you like! Once again, we will also have the longest-ever costume team entry – ‘Molly the Millipede’ – made up of 20 runners. How about the experience of running alongside our bright green millipede and lapping up the fantastic crowd support that she attracts? Action Medical Research is a national charity, which is dedicated to building a healthier future for everyone. We are funding research into many serious diseases and conditions, including premature birth, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, osteoporosis, sickle cell disease, Parkinson’s disease and stroke. We have been making breakthroughs for over 50 years, and our life-saving work benefits babies, children and adults. To join the ‘A Team’ simply enter online at www.action.org.uk/greatnorthrun or email greatnorthrun@action.org.uk or telephone 01403 210406. Don’t wait too long – the closing date for entries is July 18th ¬– and remember that every mile you run could fund a milestone in medical research!
