Last call for teams to join the best 24-hr cycling challenge – RIDE 24

25 July 2014

The original and best 24-hour non-stop endurance cycle race, RIDE24, is now in its fifth successful year. Children’s charity, Action Medical Research is making a last call for teams of four or six and solo riders to sign up for the ultimate thigh-busting, stamina draining, 24-hour, non-stop relay racing, spectacular – held at the famous Thruxton Motor Circuit, Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September 2014.

It’s the ultimate team-building event as entrants push themselves and their teammates to the limit. It's all about strategy and team work, and the team completing the most laps in 24 hours wins the coveted RIDE24 team winners’ title, as well as earning the opportunity to represent Action Medical Research at Europe's biggest 24-hour track race, the Bugatti Le Mans 24-hour Velo Race in August 2015.

We also welcome weekend warriors and riders don't need to be a part of a team to join the fun, on any bike! Solo entrants can still sign up and join the growing number of solo endurance riders.

Thruxton is a world renowned 2.4-mile motor circuit, famous for being one of the fastest in the UK, with a 60ft-wide smooth track and some of the most awesome long bends cyclists will ever ride. This is the ultimate in biking challenges and sees teams of four and solo riders racing night and day on this famous closed circuit.

Olympic gold medallist, triple world champion and former world record holder Chris Boardman MBE says: “As an ambassador working with Action Medical Research I cannot recommend too highly their commitment towards all things cycling.”

Sarah Stevenson, RIDE24 organiser at Action Medical Research, says: “RIDE24 is an amazing team building challenge as cyclists race through the night to win the coveted winners title. Cycling as far as you can in 24 hours will push you to your limit and force you to work as a team. It’s also fantastic fun and offers a great sense of achievement, no matter where you rank.”

Whether entrants are lycra clad enthusiasts or fun riders the charity will take good care of them. The fully equipped rider village will keep them going with 24-hour non-stop hot food and refreshments, sports massage therapists, a talented bike mechanic team and shower facilities which along with the ample camping will ensure that they can focus on the challenge of conquering the mighty RIDE24 challenge.

Open to relay teams of four-six as well as solo riders of all abilities, there are a variety of ways to fund a place: Option 1- Teams of four, £240 plus £1,300 in sponsorship. Option 2 - Teams of four, £1,000 and no further sponsorship. Option 3 – Solo riders, £60 plus £325 in sponsorship. Option 4 – Solo riders, £250 and no further sponsorship.
