Lead the peloton when charity ride passes through Cornwall

8 April 2013

Children’s charity Action Medical Research is looking for intrepid cyclists to take part in an epic 1,000-mile ride that will pass through Penzance, Truro, St Austell and Liskeard this summer. Pride of place at the front of the fundraising peloton is reserved for any local heroes or heroines taking part in the ride to proudly lead the way through their home town.

The Action End2End event will see riders undertake the ultimate British cycling challenge, pedalling the length of the UK from Land’s End to John o’Groats. The ride takes place from 16 to 26 August to raise funds for vital research to help sick babies and children.

The charity hopes residents and businesses will give their cyclists a huge cheer when they arrive on 16 August 2013 on day one of their nine day challenge. Riders will spend up to nine hours in the saddle each day, travelling around 100 miles as they make their way up to the tip of Scotland.

2012 Tour of Britain winning cyclist and Action Medical Research supporter Jonathan Tiernan-Locke says: “Land’s End to John o’Groats is an iconic challenge for any keen cyclist and takes you through some of our most beautiful and remote countryside. Winning the Tour of Britain was an amazing feeling. This ride is your chance to do something amazing and get on your bike to help sick children.”

The Action End2End ride will raise money to help fund medical research into conditions affecting babies and children. Action Medical Research is currently supporting work around Down syndrome, epilepsy, sickle cell disease, and diabetes, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.
