Light, Camera for Action: charity exhibition at the Lynn Tait Gallery

8 January 2013

Top international photographers - Charlie Waite, Philip Plisson and Art Wolfe – will exhibit their work at the Lynn Tait Gallery in Leigh on Sea from 12 January to 11 February 2013.

The Lynn Tait Gallery in Old Leigh has been publishing greeting cards for 20 years and a retail gift shop for 25 years. A long-standing supporter of children’s charity Action Medical Research, the gallery’s namesake will donate all profits from the one-off charity exhibition.

Lynn says: “Having seen first-hand the wonderful work that the researchers are doing for our children and grandchildren, my staff and family are committed to raising as much money as possible for Action Medical Research. I would like to take this opportunity to thank these breathtaking photographers and urge all of you to come along and purchase a piece of art and support the brilliant work of this fantastic charity.”

The renowned landscape photographer Charlie Waite will mingle with over 100 guests on the eve before the exhibition opening, 11 January. Guests are welcomed to come and meet the celebrated genius behind the lens at the exclusive private viewing. Tickets are limited and available for £10 from action.org.uk/lightcameraforaction or email lhynes@action.org.uk

Charlie Waite says: "As a Landscape Photographer, I am honoured to help raise vital funds to ensure that Action Medical Research continues to fund groundbreaking research to help stop the suffering of sick babies and children and hope that one day they will look out and wonder at the same landscapes I have enjoyed for so many years."

The event will be raising money to help fund medical research into conditions affecting babies and children. Action Medical Research has been funding medical breakthroughs since it began in 1952. The charity is currently supporting work around Down syndrome, epilepsy, sickle cell disease, and diabetes, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.

Action Medical Research is the leading UK-wide medical research charity dedicated to helping babies and children. We’ve been funding medical breakthroughs since we began in 1952 and have funded research that has helped save thousands of children’s lives and changed many more. Today, we continue to find and fund the very best medical research to help stop the suffering of babies and children caused by disease and disability. We want to make a difference in:

  • tackling premature birth and treating sick and vulnerable babies
  • helping children affected by disability, disabling conditions and infections
  • targeting rare diseases that together severely affect many forgotten children.

But there is still so much more to do. Please help us fund more life-changing research for some of the UK’s sickest babies and children.
