A Marathon Adventure
If you recently applied for a place in the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 26 April, 2015 and haven’t been successful then don’t despair! The charity Action Medical Research still have some guaranteed places which will ensure you’ll have the added incentive of running to help change the lives of sick and disabled babies and children.
You will not only be part of one of the biggest marathons in the world but will also be part of the official Team Action that will include its mascot, Paddington BearTM. You will be looked after exceedingly well, so you won’t be going it alone, but we can’t promise a share of Paddington’s marmalade sandwiches!
You will receive full fundraising and training support from the moment you sign up, with a free branded running vest and training guide written with the help of former London Marathon winner Mike Gratton to get you going and help you stay on track! You’ll also be given an online sponsorship account that you can personalise with photos and mini-blogs and afterwards you’ll be invited to the Action post-race party with food, drink, showers and masseurs.
And if that’s not tempting enough, remember that more importantly you’ll be part of the Action Medical Research ‘adventure’. The charity has been helping fund pioneering medical research since 1952. It has contributed to some amazing successes – now commonplace in medical care – including the polio and rubella vaccines, ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, folic acid for pregnant women to prevent spina bifida and more recently, cooling therapy, protecting vulnerable newborn babies from brain damage.
Every step you take will be helping sick and vulnerable babies, children with disabling conditions and young lives threatened by rare and devastating diseases for which there is no cure.
