Paddington and One Stop team up again to support children’s charity
Paddington Bear and One Stop are again teaming up in 2013 to mobilise support for the UK children’s charity, Action Medical Research.
From 15 March to 15 May, all One Stop shops are placing Paddington-themed collection boxes on their countertops to raise valuable funds. The nation’s favourite bear is the mascot of the charity which finds and funds vital research for sick babies and children.
One Stop is a retail convenience business with approximately 600 shops across the England and Wales.
Paddington Bear is calling on customers to again dig deep and help exceed last year’s impressive result of over £25,000 raised.
Paddington says: “Thank for helping in 2012 and please be kind and generous to Action Medical Research again in 2013. They really do some amazing work funding the very best research for babies and children and they are my favourite charity!”
Tony Reed, chief executive One Stop says: “One Stop is proud to again support the vital work that Action Medical Research find and fund. Our key focus is being the best neighbourhood store for our customers, which is why we're helping to make a real difference to local communities by supporting this charity. The funds raised by the collection boxes will help the children’s charity to continue to fund medical breakthroughs that help sick and disabled children, an area that continues to be underfunded in the UK.”
Action Medical Research has been funding medical breakthroughs since it began in 1952. The charity is currently supporting work around Down syndrome, epilepsy, sickle cell disease, and diabetes, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.
