Paddington lends a paw to help find treatments for sick children
7 February 2003
Children’s favourite Paddington is always keen to lend a paw to help leading medical charity Action Research find treatments for sick children. The Charity’s mascot is asking people to buy special pin badges for a suggested minimum donation of £1 from their local chemist shops.
Pharmaceutical supply company UniChem has distributed Paddington badges to 3500 independent chemists around the UK, to help raise money for Action Research, its 'Charity of the Year'.
The proceeds of the badge sales go direct to Action Research and will help the Charity build on its remarkable track record of achievements. The Charity’s work has been crucial in the development of life-saving polio and rubella vaccines, ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, and the use of folic acid to prevent spina bifida.
