Postage-free for packs of three...or more!

2 December 2014

Charity puts a unique stamp on their Christmas cards

Children’s charity, Action Medical Research are sending out their Christmas cards completely postage-free when supporters order packets of three or more, as a thank you for spreading the name of the charity at the same time as spreading good cheer! Twelve artists from around the country have teamed up to produce a range of Christmas cards and Action Medical Research, receives ALL of the money. Designers, printers and even envelope makers have all collaborated and donated their services for free to ensure the charity receives every penny from every card sold -  a similar initiative last year raised £13,000 for the children’s charity. The cards are selling fast and people are being urged to get theirs now before the order deadline of Friday 12 December 2014.

The idea to publish 12 different packs of Christmas cards, with the charity benefiting from the entire retail price, is the brainchild of Lynn Tait. Lynn, a gallery owner in Leigh on Sea, has owned a greeting card business for more than 20 years.

A long-standing supporter of the children’s charity, Lynn again this year invited 12 Ladder Club attendees to design and donate an exclusive piece of artwork for the venture. The Ladder Club seminars are crash-courses in greeting card publishing run on a not-for-profit basis by Lynn.

Lynn Tait, commented: "After the great success of last year’s initiative raising £13,000 and the wonderful comments from people who bought the cards in 2013, I am very excited to be working with these new artists who have designed a varied collection of lovely cards with every penny going to Action Medical Research. Please support the charity and help us reach our target of £15,000."

Artists who have donated their artwork for the cards include: Aianna, Dry Red Press, I Drew This, Lorraine Stylianou, Molly Mae, Olivia Goddard Designs, Perkins and Morley, Pink Pig Art, Red Berry Hill, Rose Hill Designs, The Bees Knees, Trumpers World.
Nicole Orsi, who designed one of the cards from Red Berry Hill, commented: “I was very excited when I got the call from Lynn to participate in this project and felt very privileged to have been asked. It is such a great idea to take twelve members of the Ladder Club to produce a range of Christmas cards for Action Medical Research.  I am proud to support this project and I have really enjoyed producing a design for this wonderful charity.”

Sherwood Press, The Imaging Centre, Enveco and G F Smith have all agreed to donate their services for free to produce the cards.

The cards are available to buy from the Action Medical Research website:

All of the money raised will help fund medical research into conditions affecting babies and children. Medical research can save and change children’s lives. Yet surprisingly, medical research into conditions that devastate children’s lives is poorly funded.  Action Medical Research is currently supporting work around stillbirth, epilepsy, meningitis, cerebral palsy and brain cancer, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.
