Registration offer for London to Paris bike ride

15 February 2012

Children’s charity Action Medical Research is currently offering teams of four or more riders a 60 per cent discount off the sign-up fee for its London to Paris bike ride this summer.

Running from 18 - 22 July, there are four 300-mile routes to choose from, including two new options for 2012. As part of its expanding programme of women’s rides, the charity will for the first time be offering a women-only route and there is also a new route via Caen, Alencon and Evreux, which is open to all and passes through beautiful Normandy countryside. Both of these take four days to complete.

In addition, there’s also a faster three-day option (starting 19 July) for those up for the challenge of cycling 100-miles a day, or who are just short of time!

Action Medical Research runs one of the biggest and longest-running London to Paris events in the charity sector, with its riders arriving in the French capital the day before the finale of the Tour de France.

Money raised by the ride will help fund vital medical research into conditions affecting babies and children. Research currently being supported by Action Medical Research includes work around meningitis, epilepsy, cerebral palsy and premature birth, as well as some very rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children. Last year’s event raised more than £800,000.

The ride registration fee is usually £99 per person but teams of four or more riders can register for just £40 per person, using the voucher code L2PTEAM when prompted during the online registration process.

The charity will also be holding an event information day at the Royal Overseas League in London on Saturday 3 March. Whether you've already signed up to take part or just want to hear more, the day provides a great opportunity to find out all about the ride (booking required if you want to attend).

Action Medical Research has more than 30 years experience in organising successful bike rides. Routes are monitored and clearly signposted. Snack and lunch stops are provided and medical and mechanical staff are on hand at all times.

Action Medical Research - the leading UK-wide medical research charity dedicated to helping babies and children - is celebrating 60 years of vital research in 2012. We’ve been funding medical breakthroughs since we began in 1952 and have spent more than £100 million on research that has helped save thousands of children’s lives and changed many more. Today, we continue to find and fund the very best medical research to help stop the suffering of babies and children caused by disease and disability. We want to make a difference in:

• tackling premature birth and treating sick and vulnerable babies
• helping children affected by disability, disabling conditions and infections
• targeting rare diseases that together severely affect many forgotten children.

But there is still so much more to do. Make 2012 a special year and help fund more life-changing research for some of the UK’s sickest babies and children.
