Those who can … party for Paddington and touch tiny lives

30 March 2005
The cast of Channel 4’s Teachers invite schools from all over the UK to join in the Bring Your Bear event to celebrate Paddington Bear’s birthday and raise funds for the charity that he is the furry figurehead for - Action Medical Research. Thousands of schools and children’s groups are signing up to join in the fun between 20th and 24th June 2005, and the Charity hopes to make this the biggest Bring Your Bear event in history. The aim is to raise money for Action Medical Research, which is currently running the Touching Tiny Lives campaign, which helps sick and vulnerable babies. The Bring Your Bear event is both educational and fun. Once a primary school or group registers, they will receive a free educational resource pack to support their event. For a small donation of £1, children can bring their bear (or another favourite cuddly companion) along to school to join in all the fun of the day, including a teddy bears’ picnic. Big Brother presenter Davina McCall, an active supporter of Action Medical Research, continues to encourage everyone to join in the annual event. ”Bring your Bear is a fantastic opportunity for children to have fun and support a great cause. The Touching Tiny Lives campaign is helping the smallest babies in those crucial first days of life and as a mother of two healthy children, I really appreciate how important this is.” For your information pack, please call 01403 327429 or visit our website at www.action.org.uk/byb NOTES TO EDITORS More information from: Zoë Mitchell, PR Officer, Action Medical Research, tel: 01403 327404, email zmitchell@action.org.uk High-resolution images of the Teachers cast with Paddington Bear and school children are available on request.
