Tony Hadley - Reborn and Revitalised
Singer swaps microphone for backpack to support charity
Hot off the ‘Reborn in the USA’ tour bus, ITV’s Saturday night reality TV show, Tony Hadley will soon be swapping his trademark leather jacket for hiking boots to raise money for leading medical charity, Action Research.
After impressing audiences on both sides of the Atlantic, Hadley will soon be trekking to Machu Picchu for Action Research. As his dulcet tones echo around the Andes, the true challenge will be of endurance and not his vocal cords.
To reach the lost city of the Incas in Peru, he must first conquer thousands of gruelling ancient steps and high altitude mountain passes. Tony will be trekking for 6-8 hours a day supported by Peruvian porters and sleeping under canvas. Just as his lungs are tested on stage they will be put to a different test as he copes with the thin air at an altitude of 4100m. Tony says, “I’m trekking to Peru with Action Research to raise money for an excellent cause and as a personal challenge. The Charity has made some amazing breakthroughs which have improved the health of millions of people in the UK.”
The pot of gold at the end of this challenge is not only the inspiring sight of Machu Picchu but the thousands of pounds Tony hopes to raise to help Action Research save lives. “If you want to trek to Machu Picchu like me and raise money for a great cause” says Tony, “then get in touch with Action Research. They have spaces available on their trek to Peru in May next year.”
The money raised will enable Action Research to build on its remarkable track record of achievements. The Charity’s work has been crucial in developing the life-saving polio vaccine, ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, and the use of folic acid to prevent spina bifida.
