With the cold weather setting in the leading medical charity Action Research has put together a free Winter ills fact-sheet designed to help parents easily identify some of the UK’s seasonal illnesses.
On average, children in Britain suffer from as many as six colds a year, with many of these occurring during the winter months.
Young children are particularly prone to colds because they have not developed the antibodies needed to resist common viruses. There are over 200 cold viruses and these are easily spread through coughing and sneezing.
The winter ills fact-sheet gives handy hints on how to treat colds, sore throats and coughs but also highlights more serious conditions such as flu, bronchiolitis and meningitis.
To obtain a copy of the fact-sheet, send a SAE to Winter Ills fact-sheet, Action Research, Vincent House, North Parade, Horsham, West Sussex, RH12 2DP or e-mail your request to firstname.lastname@example.org
