Research is crucial to improving the lives of babies and children with severe diseases.
Professor Bobby Gaspar knows the importance of medical research and the impact it has on clinical practice. The work he started as an Action Research Training Fellow led to the development of gene therapy treatments for two life-threatening immunodeficiency disorders. Babies with these disorders would typically have died before their first birthday, but can now lead normal lives.
Watch Bobby talking about his time as an Action Fellow:
You can help us to invest in children’s futures
We’ve been funding Research Training Fellowships for 40 years. We’re proud that we’ve been able to support the development of over 160 research leaders. Some of the finest children’s researchers and clinicians today were once our Research Training Fellows.
