A royal reception

Six researchers funded by the charity presented their work at a Diamond Anniversary Reception, hosted by our Royal Patron at Buckingham Palace last October. The researchers’ work included studies into the cause of brain cancer in children; resuscitation of newborn babies; developing a vaccine for meningitis B; epilepsy in children; bowel problems in newborn babies; and multiple sclerosis in children.

HRH The Duke of Edinburgh KG, KT kindly hosted the reception in The Bow Room at the Palace to celebrate Action Medical Research’s 60th anniversary. He spoke about how much the charity has achieved in its history to an audience of more than 100 supporters, including charity Chair Richard Price and charity President Field Marshal The Lord Guthrie. Richard Price said: “We were honoured that His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh hosted this reception to celebrate our 60th anniversary. It was a wonderful way to mark this proud milestone and showcase to guests some of the fantastic research that we are currently funding across the UK to save and change the lives of babies and children.”
