A royal reception and Scottish showcase for research
Two prestigious events held this year at Buckingham Palace in London and The Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh gave Action-funded doctors and scientists the chance to showcase their research.
Action Patron, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, welcomed around 100 Action guests to the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace, where they heard first-hand from teams representing six projects we are currently funding. Phil Hodkinson, Chair of Action Medical Research, said: “We were delighted and honoured that His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh hosted this event to allow a few of the dozens of researchers we are currently funding to share details of their inspiring work. Events like these are so important to show the vital work Action is doing.”
In Edinburgh more than 80 guests heard from four Scottish-based research teams. Professor Jane Norman, one of the UK’s leading experts on premature birth, also gave a moving speech about her motivation to save little lives as well as Action’s invaluable support funding studies into early labour.
